From Fr Fank Pavone:A Challenge To Meet

rec'd this email from Fr Frank Pavone of Priests For Life. Our help is much needed in 2011. Read what Fr Frank has to say:

You only have a small window of opportunity to win some crucial legislative battles for the youngest members of our human family ... and that window will slam shut on you and the unborn real fast!

That said ...

... it’s critically important that you click here and send Priests for Life the largest contribution you can so that we can:

1. Make your pro-life voice heard in the new Congress ... and especially in the House of Representatives. And ..

2. Mobilize the People of Life to rise up and win important legal protections for our unborn brothers and sisters!

Please give me just a moment of your valuable time to explain.

For the next 100 days – from the first week of January when the 112th Congress opens until April 15 – we will have our single-best opportunity to win some important legislative battles for the youngest members of our human family.

That’s because the new members of Congress will have the unbridled support of the literally tens of millions of Americans who voted them into office. This is typically called the “honeymoon” period where the incoming representatives are given almost free rein to enact the laws, programs and policies they campaigned on.

And one thing is very clear. A large number of incoming lawmakers campaigned against the expansion of abortion ... and especially against any form of taxpayer funding of abortion.

As members of the People of Life, it’s critically important that we do all we can – especially over these next 100 days – to hold the feet of these newly elected representatives to the fire and make sure they govern as they campaigned!

To that end, Priests for Life is going to be very visible on Capitol Hill. For example:

* On the morning of the March for Life, I will preach at the National Memorial for the Unborn, which we hold right in the US Capitol building and which is attended by some of our elected officials and their staff members.
* Priests for Life will have one-on-one meetings with Congressional leaders in the days leading up to the March for Life and afterward.
* Two members of the Priests for Life/Gospel of Life pastoral team – Dr. Alveda King and Marie Smith (wife of Congressman Chris Smith) – will receive “Life Prize Awards.” During the presentations, these outstanding women will have the opportunity to address members of both the news media and Congress.
* Priests for Life will be very visible (as usual) at the March for Life, and will interact with the many members of Congress who will show their support for our cause on that day. We will have updated information for them on our latest pro-life initiatives and on the many legislative strategies we are pursuing.
* Finally, along with Janet Morana – Priests for Life’s Executive Director and the Co-Founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign – I will hold a rally at the steps of the Supreme Court building where women who have experienced the pain and suffering of abortion will give witness to its unspeakable horror!

All that will take place in just one weekend.

And while I’m in Washington taking part in March for Life events, our other priests and pastoral associates will be at pro-life events in other parts of the country rallying the People of Life to continue to speak out in defense of the unborn.

But that’s only for starters. From now until April 15 ... and for as long as funds allow:

→We will put our Washington, DC office on “high alert” status so that we are able to monitor every move the new Congress makes that has an impact – either positive or negative – on our unborn brothers and sisters. To do so effectively, we may need to increase the size of our DC office staff.

→Periodically we will conduct more of our highly effective “Walking the Halls of Congress” days where Priests for Life staff meet face-to-face with lawmakers. Again, just how often we’re able to conduct these visits will depend on funding.

→We will send emergency “Action Alert” emails to hundreds of thousands of pro-life activists whenever it’s necessary for them to contact their lawmakers in Washington. The start-up costs to do this will be terribly expensive. But this is precisely the kind of work we must do in order to win the fight to end legalized abortion.

→We will continue to use every means of communication at our disposal – TV, radio, webcasts, YouTube, Facebook, print media – to keep the People of Life informed of all that’s going on in Congress ... and rallying them to take action whenever necessary!

Bottom line:

For the next 100 days – and for as long as it takes to end legalized abortion-on-demand in America – Priests for Life will maintain a vocal and active presence in Washington, DC so that we can keep the face of the unborn before every member of every Congress.

Again, though, these next 100 days are extremely critical to our fight because it was the People of Life who worked so hard to put so many pro-life lawmakers into office. Since we did, we’re going to stand guard over the unborn and do all in our power to make sure Congress:

... (a) Does nothing to harm them, and

... (b) Actively works to protect their God-given right to life ... which most definitely includes getting rid of any provisions – whether in “health care” legislation or anywhere else – that would to any extent open the door to federal funding for abortion. We’ll also work to restore the long-standing policy that keeps your tax dollars from paying for abortion.

That’s an aggressive agenda, I know. But it’s one we must carry out if we are to win the legal protections our unborn brothers and sisters deserve.

Needless to say, the passing of federal legislation to make significant pro-life progress will require a change in the Presidential Administration.

However, the work we do this year is essential to whatever we will achieve in the years that follow.

What’s more, the agenda I’ve outlined for you in this email is one I know you support because this is the very kind of work that convinced you to join our Priests for Life family in the first place ... and why you continue to support our mission so faithfully and so generously.

Well, thanks to you and loyal friends like you, Priests for Life has become the face and voice of America’s pro-life movement.

And because we have, it falls to us to make sure Congress protects the unborn and works to make America once again becomes a nation of liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all!

But in order for Priests for Life to carry out that mandate – and, indeed, all of the work I’ve mentioned in this email – we must have your continued financial support ... especially over these next 100 days.

So please click here and make the largest contribution you possibly can to Priests for Life so that we can sustain our work to protect and defend the unborn!

Your dollars are critically needed in order for Priests for Life to carry out all the plans I’ve laid out for you in this email. It’s going to take literally tens of thousands of dollars to maximize our efforts on Capitol Hill and protect the lives of innocent babies. That money is needed to cover office rent, legislative research, travel back and forth from Priests for Life headquarters to Washington, publishing “White Papers” and other persuasive documents, TV/radio production costs ... and more.

Your dollars are urgently needed to help make all this work possible.

So please click here and be as generous as you possibly can ... especially now as we go all out to convince Congress to use its “honeymoon” period – its first 100 days – to enact those laws that will protect the youngest members of our human family and block those that either threaten to do them grave harm or advance the abortion agenda.

Thank you for your help at this critical time.

And know that in appreciation for all you do to support our pro-life ministry and for all the sacrifices you make on behalf of God’s precious unborn, the priests of Priests for Life remember you at every Mass we offer. Thank you again and God bless.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

National Director, Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries

PS As you consider how much to send Priests for Life today, keep this in mind. In spite of the fact that I serve on the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life and that so many bishops wholeheartedly endorse our Priests for Life ministry, we are not funded at all by any official Church entity ... neither from Rome nor here in the United States. Every penny we receive comes from hard-working, dedicated pro-life champions just like you. So again I beg you to please click here and be as generous as you possibly can.

NOTE: If you prefer to send a check, please make it out to Priests for Life and send it to us at PO Box 141172, Staten Island, NY 10314. If you have any questions, call us toll-free at 888-735-3448 x232.
