Cheating Death? Finding Youth? REALLY?

None of us want to dwell on the topic of death. However,I know that most people do THINK about it whether they admit it or not. We need not become morbid about it-nor dwell on it obsessively. However,we do have to consider it because it as a viable topic. It is part of our human experience.

Welcome to Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) latest business venture: Calico, or the “California Life Company,” aims to extend life by tackling aging and disease. http://www.forbes.com/sites/netapp/2013/09/19/calico-big-data-otoh/

Jesus said, the thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. He says this in the context of His parable of the Good Shepherd,John 10:10

You could ask, doesn't that conflict with the fact that we die? Jesus said, I am the way,the truth and THE LIFE. The Book of Wisdom even proclaims," Because God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living." The truth is from the beginning man was not meant for mortality. Adam and Eve were given everything.Adam was given Eve because God saw it was not good for man to be alone. God looked at ALL of creation and scripture tells us saw that it was good. When it came to the creation of man God saw that it was very good.

Adam and Eve were created in innocence. They would not have suffered illness and death and we would not have suffered illness and death. Unfortunately Adam and Eve decided they did not need the Creator. Instead they would become gods and decide for themselves subjectively what was good and evil. We look at the tower of Babel. They resolved to build a city with a tower "whose top may reach unto heaven" without the need for God. Man continues to go down this same path.

Man was made for immortality. Jesus died to redeem the whole world. Before Jesus act of love on the cross no one-not even the good and righteous of the past- could go to heaven.Jesus made it possible for man to go to heaven.Keep in mind the word possible because heaven is not the only way we could spend eternity. Our life here is not meant to be our whole life. We are meant for eternity. What Jesus is saying when He proclaims Himself the LIFE is that we can live life to the fullest when we follow Him.It is why the Catholic Church defends life from conception to natural death. It is why we oppose both abortion and euthanasia as well as contraception. We acknowledge that God is the Creator and we are the Creature. We acknowledge that God in His love gave man(humanity)life and to participate in His giving life through procreation.

We are made to enjoy life, to desire life, to avoid death, to cure illness and disease, to help people who are sick and disabled. We are made to protect the lives of others.Everything about us wants to live and live as long as possible. We do not condone suicide. We are meant to live life to the fullest and prepare for eternal life with God.We enjoy all that God has given us but we also recognize that we can't cheat death. We don't have to. Jesus did that for us.

Of course we fear death. Even Jesus exclaimed from the Cross,"My God,My God why hast thou forsaken me." He is true God and true man. It is an innate reaction that if our lives are threatened we choose fight or flight.God made us that way.We have doctors(St Luke was a physician),nurses, hospitals and do research. We have found cures from what God has given us.Ultimately though we face death. There is no man made way to cheat death. We do not become gods nor do we reach heaven by man made devices. We reach heaven the way Jesus gave to us.The words of Jesus are efficacious. While we may fear death and cry out My God,My God why hast thou forsaken me we also know that Jesus rose from the dead and Mary was assumed into heaven body and soul.We are meant for immortality. Something in us tells us that.We know this life can't be it.Here is THE answer.
